Fun in the jungle

Nathan managed first first roll over this week although we didn't actually see it due to watching Fred Clause on telly!! He hasn't done a repeat performance yet and we think he may have cheated by using the legs of his play gym to push off. He also managed to put his leg through one of the toys hanging from the gym but this didn't seem to bother him much, he also has a habit of wearing his bib as a cape .....

Christmas

All in all a good day had I think, far too much food but amazingly there still seems to be lots of wine left - not sure what happened there. For those who were running a book Dad was asleep by 3.30pm, closely followed by Jean a short while later. Dad managed to wake himself up in time pudding though. Lesley and George left relatively early as they were travelling down to Leeds today and the rest of us ended up in our beds by 10.30pm! Here's a couple of pictures from the days festivities........

I think there are too many pressies to go under the tree, and that's before Lesley and George turned up with the same amount again!

Daddy helps Nathan open his pressies

Grandad gets some cuddles

Boxing Day and Nathan gets stuck into all his new toys and gifts

We declined from going to the boxing day sales today and finished tidying up from yesterday before getting out Nathan's pressies and removing the mounds of packaging around them and trying to find home for them!

Michaels Christening

Sunday was Chris's cousins son's christening. It gave us an excuse to get dressed up so we got Nathan a wee outfit to match his daddy.

Uncle Pete and Aunty Sara came up for it too so they got a chance to see their nephew

Getting ready for Christmas

Nathan quite enjoys the Christmas tree and so far has managed to pull off the bottom layer of tinsel and 3 baubles.

I couldn't resist the urge to dress Nathan up for the festive season (yes the entire month of December!)

Winter has arrived

Our street is one of the only ones not cleared or gritted by the council, getting in the drive was slightly difficult today. The cats still managed to get out and play though and Gizmo even caught his lunch! Chris had to clear the greenhouse roof to stop it caving in under the weight of the snow

Christmas Festivities in Whitley Bay

We spent last weekend down at mum and dads to introduce Nathan to his Great Aunties and Uncles and to do the annual Christmas exchange trip! Nathan wonders what he has let himself in for as the gang arrive...

Aunty Sally waited for a good 3 minutes before diving in for a cuddle

Closely followed by Aunty Miriam

The battle then commenced for who got him again Aunty Sally wins by swiftly elbowing Miriam in the chest!! (well OK maybe not)

Chris and I sneak in a few cuddles before Ann and Jimmy turn up for tea.

After a long day (and some wine in Grandads case!) the boys take a nap on the sofa......

While we were in the area we picked Nathan up a bargain eBay pressie for when he's a little older but let him try it out now for size.....

We headed back on Monday lunch time stopping in Berwick for afternoon tea on the way back. When we got home the cats welcome us back in their own special way......

So far this week the cats are taking the lead in the hunting stakes - Cats 4 Birds 0

All in all a good weekend had.

Hot baby!

The latest lot of jabs has taken it's toll on the wee man and he's been running a temperature. He looks so sorry for himself the poor wee cherub. Hopefully he'll be back to normal for his trip down south at the weekend.

Nathan's new knapsack

Although he can't strictly use it until 6 months old he seems to fit quite well in it apart from sliding to the side every so often! It was also a bargain as we got it at TK Max so saved a few pennies from the RRP price :)

David Attenborough eat your heart out

As the young explorer made his way through the rain forest......

Little Swimmer

We were away in Leeds at the weekend and I purposely picked a hotel with a pool so we could take the wee man on his first trip to the swimming pool.

Unfortunately the weather was pretty awful all weekend so we didn't get much of a chance to go out and about. We did go back via York on the way home and I got the chance to spend Chris's pennies!!

Getting ready for bed

Nathan shows no signs of wanting to go to bed......

Hmmm cakes

I had some eggs to use up so thought I'd do a bit of baking....

Hungry Horace

Nathan's been on a mission to fatten himself up this week, deciding that the boob wasn't enough for him and he wanted more!! He's been having a couple of cartons of formula a day to supplement mummy's milk which seems to be doing him some good and getting him back on track on the growth charts. He weighed in today at 11lb 6oz (5.16kg) that's a 9oz increase on last week!

Nathan on his swing

We thought we'd try out the video facility on the camera and capture Nathan zooming off on his swing seat. This thing goes fast!!

Get a room...

Thought we'd have a wee experiment last night and see how Nathan got on sleeping in the nursery. This is mainly due to the amount of noise he makes in his sleep kept waking me up! The ones that get you the most are the single cry every now and again that make you jump out of your skin but when you go to check him he's fast asleep! It's quite bizarre.Any how I can report Nathan passed with flying colours and didn't seem to be bothered that he was in a different bed or room. He currently in bed around 9, sleeping til about 4, having a feed and then going back down til around 8 so we don't think we're doing too bad.

My new toy #2

My wonderful husband has been busy in the kitchen while me and Nathan have been away. There's still a bit of work to do but the cooker is all connected up and working and looking fab. :)

Nathan's first painting

It was easier said than done. The feet weren't too bad but trying to unclench his fists long enough to get a print was tricky! End result a couple of good prints, blue paint everywhere and a crying baby!!!!

Piling on the pounds

Or should that be ounces? I took Nathan along to the drop in baby clinic today to get weighed seen as though we don't appear to be getting an appointment from the health visitor anytime soon. He now weighs in at 9lb 15oz that's 5oz's heavier than his wee cousin.

Home Alone!

We've had a weekend full of activity and so has Nathan. Lesley had a 'show off' day on Saturday where Gail and I took Michael and Nathan round to Danderhall for various Aunties, Grandparents and the likes to grab cuddles with the boys. I didn't take my camera but Lesley took lots of photo's so I'll upload a couple once I've pinched them from her! For Nathan that was the start of a long stay at Grandma and Grandad Griffiths's as we somehow managed to convince them to have Nathan overnight so we could have a night off a go to a friends 30th birthday party. A car full of stuff later and a fridge full of breastmilk we left Nathan and headed off for a wee drink to two. It was supposed to be fancy dress but I forgot all about it until the day before so we went in normal clothes.

It has to be said that we actually got less sleep by the time we got in that we would normally have had when with Nathan! I didn't even get much of a lie in due to the raging hangover!!! Lesley and George brought Nathan back at lunch time and I don't think he even missed us. He'd enjoyed his wee night away and even behaved himself for Grandma and Grandad.

That afternoon we had a reunion with the couples from the NCT antenatal class we attended. I forgot my camera so have pinched the following photo's from the other girls! We managed to be there all of 20 minutes before Nathan managed to poo all over his outfit so he looks a bit boring in his white sleep suit that we had to change him into. Not to be out done Logan not only got poo everywhere but then wee'd mid nappy change and ended up in the bath to clean up! Mum Laura took it all in her stride though and soon had him back in a different cute outfit.
