Blog overload

OK by popular demand I suppose I better do some updates.......

On our last few days in New Zealand we had a car again so one day was occupied with a shopping trip for me Cath and the boys over to Albany where we met Abby for lunch. I don't recall much being bought apart from a shirt for Duncan! Mum and I also had a day out at Waiatomo Glow worm caves where we did the glowworm tour and a cave tour. It was quite a long day and possibly a bit too far just for the day, I think it would have been better combined if you were doing a touring trip from Auckland southwards. Luckily for us we'd left Nathan with Seona and Isla for the day so they had fun entertaining the wee man ad changing nappies! We had our 'last supper' at Cath's before heading back to the apartment to prepare for the mammoth journey the next day. Our last day was fairly quiet as we needed to pack everything up and take the stuff we'd borrowed back to Cath's before we knew it, it was time for a quick spot of lunch and then time to go. I drove the hire car back to their depo at the airport and a shuttle bus took us into the terminal. By the time we'd got through security and had a coffee it was time for boarding probably just as well as I think a large bit of the shopping area was being re-vamped so it was all shut off. The flights themselves were OK we all managed to sleep for most of them and seemed to get endlessly fed when we weren't sleeping! The transfers were all quick and in Dubai it felt like we didn't have time to do anything. I took Nathan's carrier with us on the flight back to make it easier to get on and off the plan etc - OK I couldn't it get back in the case either! Anyway after the long trip back and a huge queue to get through passport control at Newcastle the 'boys' were waiting for us in the arrivals hall. Despite all the sleep on the flight I still felt exhausted so it was straight to the car and a weary drive back to Edinburgh. It worked out quite well because we got back home in time to dump everything and get a bite to eat before an early night. It took a few days to get back into the swing of things and the following day I didn't do much apart from sleep. Nathan was a star through it all and only had one incident where he woke up at 3 and needed a bit of play before zonking back out for a few more hours. I was back at work in no time at all and it felt like we'd never been away!

I did a nice little photo book for the grandparents as a memento of our trip including the prints that Duncan took which I'll put up on my Kodak site and post a link to them.
