Baby Update

I was at the midwife this week every things fine baby's head is on it's way down current 1/5 in so 4/5's still palpable and the right way round. She says I'm measuring 38 weeks at the mo (I was actually 36 +1 at my appointment), and current estimated weight is 7lbs so that would make a birth weight of around 8lb 8oz. Not long left at work for me now so I'm on the count down.

The snow just keeps coming...

It's still snowing on and off. Chris made it into work today and dropped Nathan off with Grandma so I could get some work done. I think it looks worse than it actually is from our window just down to the build up off all the snow. The buses are running our way again so we're going to try and get in to work tomorrow. Or correction the only reason Chris is going in is so he can get to his Christmas party on the night time. Here's a few more pics of the snow to date, the front garden is getting deeper and deeper and may reach the top of the fence soon especially as there's no where to put the snow from the road/ paths but the garden!

We've also started putting the Christmas deccy's up and have got the tree up with lights it's just not fully decorated yet.

Christmas London

Here's a few pics of the various lights and displays up around London.

London

A week or so back I joined Chris on a trip to London for a couple of days as he had a training course. We left Nathan with G&G Griff travelled down to London first class which was nice and I'd definitely do again if I was going that distance. The weather was fine and I managed to venture out to Oxford street on both days. On the first day navigating the tube for the first time took it out of me somewhat so I didn't manage to wander that far. But on the second day, I had to check out by 11 and our train wasn't until 6 so I walked from Tower bridge to the Eye and then got the tube up to Bond street and wandered the shops. I had a nice smooch around Hamley's and got Nathan a Hamley's Beefeater bear for his Christmas.

Video of Nathan in the snow

Just a wee video of Nathan enjoying the snow.

Nathan's first play in the snow

I got Nathan a full on ski/snow suit from TKmax last week so he got to test it out at the weekend. No sledge as yet but I have seen some cute baby sledges with seats and restraints on them :) He seemed to enjoy himself while daddy cleared the paths.

I thinks it may have snowed........

Brrrrr. No going out for anyone today well except the cat he goes out whatever the weather! Although that said Chris needs to go and clear the greenhouse roof before it caves in under the weight of the snow. It's definitely starting to feel Christmassy especially with Chris putting up the outside lights at the weekend. We're in the process of making the lounge all festive have tidied and rearranged furniture - tree up tonight :)

October Update

Nothing really much to report with us. Nathan's walking a lot more now and prefers that to going in his buggy. Trying to get him in the car seat can be a nightmare!! He's had a couple more sessions at soft play the latest one at Molly's at Ocean Terminal where we lost him up a tree house so one of the staff members was dispatched to retrieve him before the older kids knocked him down! Despite our half term being last week I hadn't realised there was in service days this week so it was quite busy with older children. Still at £1.50 I can't complain. Hopefully next time we go he'll be able to try out some of the higher level activities without being trampled on! I've got no where with his new room apart from picking out colours and getting a bed off ebay for a bargain £11.50. We need to do some major rearranging of computer stuff before any decorating can take place and mum needs the room to sleep in next week so it'll be a couple of weeks yet til we get round to things.

I'm fine and growing rapidly. The midwife apps are still quite spread apart and being the second child you don't get a much attention as you do the first time round! Baby is moving a lot but apart from that there's not a lot to say. We're currently toying with the idea of travelling to the borders general for the birth as the new birthing centre at the NRIE has been delayed but I can't make my mind up.

Here's a few up to date pics of Nathan.

Nathan's newest cousin

Nathan's building up his list of cousin's. Big congrats to Peter and Sara on the birth of Vincenzo George Griffiths born 26th September (23.28 ish I think), weighing in at 7lb 15oz.

I'm very jealous of the totally relaxed visiting hours down there. The family got to go in after the birth and stay til 4am then had open visiting the following day apart from a few hours. The best you get up here is 2, 2 hour slots one in the afternoon and one in the evening - dads can come anything though between 9 and 9. Anyway looking forward to see them all this weekend all being well.

Soft Play

I took Nathan along to soft play for the first time today. It was a session limited to pre school so nice and quiet and slightly less boisterous than other times I expect. That said within the first 5 minutes a charming young boy had scratched Nathan's face. They had a special area for the 0-3 years so Nathan spent most of his time in there. He had a go on the big children's trampolines but didn't really know how to bounce and also tried the sensory room but burst into tears straight away! I don't know if it was the darkness of the room (it's a room lit by various LED light displays) made him though he was being put to bed or what. Anyway here's a wee pic of Nathan (and granny griff) in the babies bit.

Seaside fun

This afternoon we took a trip to Portobello, had a walk along the prom and let Nathan loose in the play park.

He's also got over his fear of the sand and quite happily played on the beach with daddy.

Time for a break to replenish the energy supplies...

Thats a wrap..

Finger food is most definitely the order of the week. This weeks favorite is wraps, mainly of the soft cheese variety, we tried egg mayo earlier in the week but that was a bit messy! Today was toasted wraps with tuna and cheese, they seemed to go down well.

First Steps?

So far Nathan's been walking well around the furniture and holding onto your hand but he's been reluctant to walk on his own. Today he decided to venture off on his own so we're wondering if this is the first of his 'proper' walking?

20 Week scan

We had the 20 week scan this afternoon which I'm happy to report all went well. Newbe was a bit disobedient and was facing the wrong way at first so we were sent away for an emptying of the bladder, walk and snack to encourage some movement! It worked and when we went back in Newbe gave the sonographer a good shot of it's heart so she could complete her tests. We also managed to get some good photo's. The sonographer gave nothing away about the sex though and didn't even ask us if we wanted to know, which was just as well as it would have been harder to say no when it's offered in front of you!

PJ's

We thought we'd try Nathan out in his PJ's that we'd got in New Zealand and he suits them down to a tee. The following morning though the pant and booties were off when I went in to get him but he's managed to keep them since then!

More Birthday pics

On Nathan's actual birthday we went along to the festival cavalcade in the park. Nathan didn't really appreciate some of the loud noise so he and mummy vegged on the grass while Daddy took lots of photos.

We helped Nathan open his pressies when we got home and he is very pleased with all the lovely gifts he was given so a big thank you from Nathan to everyone.

Unfortunately Nathan was more interested in trying to grab the candle rather than blowing it out so no good pics of that I'm afraid.
